Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Cobalt Reef LLC, the publisher of Orphie. By using the Orphie app or this website, you accept them.
Effective October 5, 2026
What Orphie is
Orphie is a mileage log. You start, pause, and end each shift, and Orphie records the miles from your phone's GPS. It shows estimated deductions and exports your mileage log as a PDF or a CSV you can give your tax professional.
Orphie is free to download and use, and there's nothing to buy in the app. If we offer paid features later, the App Store or Google Play will show the price before you pay, and the store's terms will cover the purchase.
Not tax, legal, or accounting advice
Orphie keeps records. It doesn't give tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and nothing in the app or on this website is such advice.
Cobalt Reef LLC isn't a CPA firm, a law firm, an enrolled agent, or a tax preparer. Orphie doesn't prepare or file tax returns, and it doesn't represent you before the IRS. Nothing in Orphie or on this website is written tax advice under IRS Circular 230.
Every dollar amount in Orphie is an estimate. Orphie multiplies business miles by the IRS standard mileage rate for the date of each shift. It doesn't decide which miles you can deduct, whether you qualify for a deduction, or which method you should use.
A deduction estimate isn't cash, a refund, or tax saved. We don't promise any tax result, or any outcome if the IRS examines your return. Ask a qualified tax professional about your own taxes.
Your records
The records you make in Orphie are yours. They stay on your phone, and we don't receive a copy.
You're responsible for your records. You decide when a shift starts and ends, which miles are business miles, and what each business purpose says. GPS can miss or add distance, so check each shift before you save it, and correct it if it's wrong.
Keep a backup. We have no copy of your log, so we can't restore it if your phone is lost, broken, or reset, or if you delete the app. Settings › Backup and restore saves a backup file.
Our privacy policy explains how Orphie handles your data.
Use Orphie safely
Don't handle your phone while you drive. Choose your vehicle and who you're driving for before you move, and review the shift when you're parked. Obey the traffic laws where you drive.
Using the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Orphie on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from.
Don't copy, sell, or reverse engineer Orphie, or use it to break the law, except where the law gives you that right.
App Store and Google Play
If you got Orphie from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app. These terms add to it. If the two conflict, Apple's agreement controls.
If you got Orphie from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.
Other companies' services
Orphie uses services from Apple and Google, such as maps, the city-name lookup, Google Drive, and your phone's share sheet. Their own terms and privacy policies govern those services, and we aren't responsible for them.
Amazon Flex, Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, and the other names in Orphie's Driving for list are trademarks of their owners. Orphie isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them, and it doesn't connect to their apps.
No warranty
To the extent the law allows, we provide Orphie and this website "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that Orphie is free of errors, that it records every mile, or that your records meet any tax requirement.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Cobalt Reef LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost data, taxes, penalties, interest, or deductions, that come from your use of Orphie or this website. Our total liability for any claim about Orphie is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the consumer laws where you live that can't be limited by agreement.
Changes
We may update Orphie, change its features, or stop offering it. We may also change these terms. We'll post the new terms on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using Orphie after a change, the new terms apply.
